London Luton Airport, which was previously known as Luton International Airport, is an airport about 30 miles to the north-west of London in the town of Luton, Bedfordshire with easy access from the M25.
London Luton Airport was first opened on July 16, 1938. During the Second World War the airport was used as a base for RAF fighters. Following the war the land was returned to the local council as a commercial operation, providing the base for major tour operators. London Luton airport is centrally situated for easy access to London Oxford and Cambridge.
From the M1 exit at Junction 10, the airport will be signposted.
Amongst the many attractions in Luton include Whipsnade wild Animal Park , which is a conservation park and one of Europe 's largest. For those interested in Luton's history why not visit Luton museum and gallery and Leighton Buzzard railway. Luton is also home to many parks such as Stockwood and Wardown, and to see one of the first brick buildings in the UK you may wish to visit Someries Castle or the elaborately decorated St Mary's church dating back to the middle ages.
