Coventry is enclosed by a ring road. Coventry Train Station and Warwick University are located south of the ring road. It is a 10-minute walk from the station to the city centre across Greyfriars Green. Coventry has some distinctive landmarks such as the three medieval spires of the Cathedral, Christ Church and Holy Trinity Church . The centre is divided into the shopping precinct to the west and the Cathedral Quarter to the east.

 

Amongst the many tourist attractions Coventry boasts several galleries and museums including the toy museum, the world-class Motor museum, Herbert Art gallery and museum and the Lunt Roman Fort at Baginton as well as several music festivals such as the Jazz and Church music festival, which is an annual event. Coventry also has a lively nightlife, theatres, such as the Belgrade , the Odeon multiplex cinema and a skydome entertainment complex which includes an ice rink. Coventry University is east of the Cathedral Quarter, adjacent to the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, and the Leisure Centre. It is very easy to walk around Coventry as the city is very pedestrian friendly, boasting a pedestrianised shopping precinct designed by Donald Gibson and has been open since 1948. The city also has an efficient bus network with an extensive park and ride system.
